Skill level: Intermediate
Crochet hook: 2.5 mm
Materials: A piece of black scrap yarn, safety eyes 6 mm, fiberfill, pins, tapestry needle
Yarn: Rainbow Cotton 8/4
Natural White (#002) – 2 skeins
Pastel Yellow (#053) – 1 skein
Baby Blue (#032) – 1 skein
Dusty Purple (#068) – 1 skein
Candyfloss (#093) – 1 skein
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
bs – bubble stitch (4 unfinished dc together in the same stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through all stitches on the hook)

Continue on the opposite side of the foundation chain to make an oval. 2 sc in the next st, 4 sc, 2 sc in the next st, 1 sl st. Cut off the yarn but be careful to leave a long tail for sewing the pink inside ear onto the white ear.
Horn
Color: 053 Pastel Yellow
Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring. 3 sc in the magic ring (3)
Rnd 2: inc x3 (6)
Rnd 3: 1 sc in each st (6)

Finish with 1 sl st in the first st. Cut off the yarn but be careful to leave a long tail for sewing the horn onto the head.
Mane (make 4 in 4 different colors)

Ch 80, turn, 2 hdc in each st all the way back. Cut off the yarn but be careful to leave a long tail for sewing the mane onto the head.
Tail (make 4 in 4 different colors)

Ch 70, turn, 2 hdc in each st all the way back. Cut off the yarn but be careful to leave a long tail for sewing the tail onto the body.
Assembling
Head:
Sew the head onto the body. The head must point downwards a little. It can be helpful to pin the head to the body first. Sew through the stitches of the body and then through the head. And finally, stuff some extra fiberfill into the neck before closing it completely to avoid a wobbly head. Weave in ends thoroughly.
Ears:
First, sew the pink piece onto each ear. Sew the ears on approx. 10 rows behind the eyes and with 8-10 stitches in between. Weave in ends thoroughly.
Leg:
Place the legs under the tummy. They should point outward a bit.
Sew on the legs about 3 rows from the beginning of the body. Weave in ends thoroughly.
Arm:
Sew on the arms about 1 row from the top of the neck. Weave in ends thoroughly.
Mane:
Pin the four pieces of the mane to the head to make them stay where you want them. Then stitch each end and the middle of the pieces onto the head. And if Ea is made for a very small child, you may want to stitch the pieces in a couple more places. Weave in ends thoroughly.
Tail:
Sew the four pieces onto the middle of the back side. Weave in ends thoroughly.
